Fast Wednesdays: Week of June 1, 2016 – You’re Amazing!

Greetings Beloved!

Welcome to my first “Fast Wednesday” post after retirement from IBM yesterday, 05/31/16 … its been a whirlwind of a time but I am oh so thankful for the overflow of blessings since this segment of my life journey began on March 2, 2016. I cannot thank you all enough for the overflow of love, blessings, cards, prayers, etc. received. I am grateful and humbled.

On another note, this past weekend Alvin (Mr. Ellis) and I went to Houston, TX (Pearland actually) to join about 30 other friends, etc. in the celebration of 100 year old Mildred Thelma Mitchell Cummings (MeMe)! What an amazing time we had together. Through various actions many of us thought about just how significant 100 “anything” can be such as cotton balls, q-tips, pens, creamers, plastic bags, etc. And, MeMe showed us with grace and love, what 100 years looks like!

With that in mind, I pray and wish you all a hundred fold blessing today as I reflect on GOD and tell him “You’re Amazing!:”

Genesis 26:12 King James Version (KJV) 12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him.

Luke 8:8 King James Version (KJV)And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Verse of the Day: Revelation 21: 2-4 NIV

I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

We fellowshipped at the Fountain of Praise church, Houston, TX, on Sunday with friends Bridget, Michelle, Reno and Kilty.

The sermon was on “How to Conquer Complacency” from Luke 5:1-6. Essentially, we heard that complacency is the ENEMY of progress. And, if and when one gets stuck there, they LIVE in failure instead of learning from their failure, they make complacency a lifestyle. One should go THROUGH the failure instead of using it as an EXCUSE. Excuses limit. Excuses hinder you from experiencing the supernatural power of God. Trust God and do something more or something different that GOD and the Holy Spirit may be challenging you to do.

Obedience to God and his word produces supernatural results … Luke 5:5-6King James Version (KJV)And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

Note: Simon (Peter) was awestruck at this miracle, and his first response was to feel his own insignificance in comparison to Jesus’ greatness. Peter knew Jesus had healed the sick and cast out demons, but he was amazed that Jesus cared about his day-to-day routine and understood his needs. God is interested not only in saving us, but also in helping us in our daily activities! (From Life Application Bible, NRSV notes).

Dear Father, we thank you for your faithfulness to us. We pray you will help us to be more faithful to you and others. Lord, you are so amazing! Help us not succumb to complacency but to be overcomers, remind us we cannot be lazy, its not about us but others depend on us, give us a “can do attitude” and help us to be discontent when we are living beneath the blessings you have in store for us. You are the GREAT I AM and we love you. No weapon formed against us shall prosper. AMEN.

Love, Joy and Peace,

Reminder AND/OR for those of you just joining us: The purpose of Fast Wednesdays is to draw near to God on this specific day of the week fasting and praying in whatever manner the Holy Spirit is leading you as sisters (and some brothers) in Christ…some have fasted from social media, coffee, or observed a traditional fast with no eating from sunrise to sunset with only liquids for the day, no deserts, etc. I know many of us, for various reasons, participate every week but in different manners. This has still been beneficial and the blog continues to grow!

The key ingredient is that we are doing this together as sisters, of all ages, in the Lord, both chronologically and spiritually in accordance to: A God-Filled Life Titus 2:3-5 “Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior.”  Note: Please share Fast Wednesdays with your friends and/or send me names to add to the distribution list. For now, I will post in three places: email (, Facebook (Debra Fuller Ellis) and blog in Word Press:
