Fast Wednesdays: Week of May 4, 2016 – “The Letter R – Tribute to Sesame Street, IBM Watson, Youth and Mothers”

Greetings Beloved … when I came of age, kindergarten did not exist. We actually just went straight to first grade! Believe it or not, we did not even have Pre-K! So, I sometimes wonder did I miss anything by not going to PreK or Kindergarten? On another note, yesterday I learned that a youth whom I know and is turning 13 soon, really likes IBM Watson. I think that is so cool. I am hoping to sometimes encourage him and others, especially youth, with Fast Wednesday posts so this IBM Watson/Sesame Street update is for them.

Last week Sesame Street Workshop and IBM Watson announced the following:

Sesame Workshop and IBM Watson Team Up to Advance Early Childhood Education

So, in honor of this collaboration, I think/hopefully, today’s Fast Wednesday Topic focuses on … The Letter R!
R (named ar/or /ɑːr/[1]) is the 18th letter of the modern English alphabet and the ISO basic Latin alphabet.
The letter ⟨r⟩ is the eighth most common letter in English and the fourth-most common consonant (after ⟨t⟩, ⟨n⟩, and ⟨s⟩)

Here’s our word list I created. Based on your personal relationship with God, take these words and put them into meaningful “sentences” for your life.

(For instance, I will use out first word RECEIVE* as follows).

Though it is better to give than Receive, one must also learn how to RECEIVE. Did you know, that by not accepting help or gifts, etc. from another person, you could actually be BLOCKING their blessings? Therefore, its just as important to know how to give as it is to RECEIVE)!

Receive* Recognize Reconciliation Redemption Refuge Rejoice*** Renewal Repentance Rescue Respect Restoration** Resurrection Retaliation Revelation Revenge Revere Righteous

SONG: Restoration** by the Winans

Some Lyrics:
Restore me, restore to me the joy
Restore me, restore to me the joy
This is my prayer today, yeah
Restoration has finally come
Been restored back to my place in God
Restoration has finally come
Been restored back to my place in God

What would I know about being restored
If I never lost my place
What would I know about his mercy if I hadn’t got out of grace

Psalm 118:24 NKJV 24 This is the day the Lord has made; We will REJOICE*** and be glad in it.

Psalm 112 – find all the R’s and meditate on them)

Praise the Lord.

Blessed are those who have respect for the Lord.
They find great delight when they obey God’s commands.

Their children will be powerful in the land.
Because they are honest, their children will be blessed.
Their family will have wealth and riches.
They will always be blessed for doing what is right.
Even in the darkness light shines on honest people.
It shines on those who are kind and tender and godly.
Good things will come to those who are willing to lend freely.
Good things will come to those who are fair in everything they do.
Those who do what is right will always be secure.
They will be remembered forever.
They aren’t afraid when bad news comes.
They stand firm because they trust in the Lord.
Their hearts are secure. They aren’t afraid.
In the end they will see their enemies destroyed.
They have spread their gifts around to poor people.
Their good works continue forever.
They will be powerful and honored.

10 Evil people will see it and be upset.
They will grind their teeth and become weaker and weaker.
What evil people long to do can’t succeed.

Father, I pray we will learn to live by your word and walk in our “R’s” in our relationships with you and others. May we have clean hearts and pure spirits as you wash us clean through your “R’s”, and I pray that we continue to grow as children for they receive great honor in your kingdom. My prayer is that you bless them today and all MOTHERS as we celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend. Bless those who lost their mothers, who had bad mothers, who had excellent mothers, who wanted to be mothers and never conceived, who became step mothers, who never wanted to be mothers, and so on, as only you know in their hearts…Amen.

Love, Joy and Peace,

Debra J. Ellis

Reminder AND/OR for those of you just joining us: The purpose of Fast Wednesdays is to draw near to God on this specific day of the week fasting and praying in whatever manner the Holy Spirit is leading you as sisters (and some brothers) in Christ…some have fasted from social media, coffee, or observed a traditional fast with no eating from sunrise to sunset with only liquids for the day, no deserts, etc. I know many of us, for various reasons, participate every week but in different manners. This has still been beneficial and the blog continues to grow!

The key ingredient is that we are doing this together as sisters, of all ages, in the Lord, both chronologically and spiritually in accordance to: A God-Filled Life Titus 2:3-5 “Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior.”  Note: Please share Fast Wednesdays with your friends and/or send me names to add to the distribution list. For now, I will post in three places: email (, Facebook (Debra Fuller Ellis) and blog in Word Press:
