As most of you are aware, I have not been posting on Fast Wednesdays for a bit. I want you all to know that I am in the process of “redesigning” the blog. Please keep me in prayer as I work to make this virtual space and tool better. However, today, I feel like FIRE in my bones and I have to post. The following is a “collage” of encouragement that came from two friends and my daughter in various ways. In honor of them I am providing the picture “You Can Tell When People Are Best Friends.”
Our theme: Be Still (and know that He is God from Psalms 46:10) and Don’t be Discouraged. While you are BEING STILL remember that God speaks to you through: 1) Circumstances 2) People 3) Holy Spirit and 4) Scripture
Psalm 27 entire chapter …but begin with Psalm 27:14-Wait on the Lord, be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart, Wait, I say, on the Lord
(Waiting is also being still)!!!
Three friends have sent me such encouraging items that I feel overwhelmingly convicted to share, so here goes:
1 Hi Deb. This is one of my favorite scriptures sent by a very special and dear friend….and thought it fitting for what you’re praying for……
Morning Prayer, Thursday, April 12, 2016 (This is our collective prayer for the week)…
Dear Lord, when we listen to you, you will not lead us astray. So many times you have said WAIT and NO in answer to our prayer. While we can’t always understand at the time, thank you for eventually giving us a clear understanding. I’ve since learned the hard way that wait means ” that’s not good for you, I have something better”. I missed the rest of the answer when you said NO! You were saying No, don’t hurt yourself…that’s not my perfect plan for you. Lord, work in me patience and obedience, that when I hear you, I will follow without question. Praise the Lord, AMEN!
Psalm 27:14-Wait on the Lord, be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart, Wait, I say, on the Lord
2 Another friend today shared with me also today Ad astra per aspera!!!
Translated this is a Latin phrase which means any of the following: “Through hardships to the stars”, “A rough road leads to the stars” or “To the stars through difficulties”. It is also the title of a play depicting the history of the fictional Maycomb County in Harper Lee‘s To Kill a Mockingbird, in which the translation is given as from the mud to the stars.
For me, it means don’t be discouraged, which is the name of our song below for today. Remember, your destiny may be delayed but it is NOT denied…God has plans for you to prosper and be successful. That’s my life STORY, so I definitely related to this one! #TheStruggleIsReal
3 My daughter has an incredible anointing and ministry where she selects a song for you to listen to … here’s her choice this week … let me know if it hits you like it does me and others:
Maurette Brown Clark – Don’t be Discouraged https://www.google.com/search?q=maurette+brown+clark+don%27t+be&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
This is just one example of it all coming together, for my good, in my life and I know you all have your own testimonies in your own way…I pray this ministers to many and actually feel so much better that I’m getting this out into the universe.
More to come…when — to be determined…thanking GOD for family and friends.
Love, Joy and Peace,
Debra J. Ellis
Reminder AND/OR for those of you just joining us: The purpose of Fast Wednesdays is to draw near to God on this specific day of the week fasting and praying in whatever manner the Holy Spirit is leading you as sisters (and some brothers) in Christ…some have fasted from social media, coffee, or observed a traditional fast with no eating from sunrise to sunset with only liquids for the day, no deserts, etc. I know many of us, for various reasons, participate every week but in different manners. This has still been beneficial and the blog continues to grow!
The key ingredient is that we are doing this together as sisters, of all ages, in the Lord, both chronologically and spiritually in accordance to: A God-Filled Life Titus 2:3-5 “Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior.” Note: Please share Fast Wednesdays with your friends and/or send me names to add to the distribution list. For now, I will post in three places: email (firstname.lastname@example.org), Facebook (Debra Fuller Ellis) and blog in Word Press: https://fastwednesdays.wordpress.com
