Do you believe all things are working together for your good? And, he’s intentional? Never failing? I do…you should too.
Romans 8:28 Contemporary English Version (CEV) 28 We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him.[a] They are the ones God has chosen for his purpose,
Footnotes:Romans 8.28 God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him: Or “All things work for the good of everyone who loves God” or “God’s Spirit always works for the good of everyone who loves God.”
Now, as we marinate on the above, consider this scripture:
Psalm 85:8 Contemporary English version (CEV): 8 I will listen to you, Lord God, because you promise peace to those who are faithful and no longer foolish.
Lord, my friends, I am so GLAD I am 60 and beginning to no longer be foolish…I figure I will be foolish until I go home to be with the Lord or until Christ returns, whichever comes first, but I just won’t be as stupid and needy as I use to be…can I get an AMEN…now that I am getting older, I love that people have to put up with me more because I’m getting old and onery, not quite as politically correct as I use to be…never thought I would make it…lol! (Okay, some of my ride or die buddies, y’all know, y’all know what I am talking about)!
In our Life Group this week, where we are studying the movie and book, War Room, our facilitator shared with us on “Listening Prayer.” It was some great reminders so I’m sharing…
– Are your prayers monologues or dialogues? Remember, prayer is a two way street. The author of a little note stated: I prayed as if God had an answering machine and I was just leaving messages.
– Listening Prayer is a way of learning to listen instead of doing all the talking.
She suggested “Be-attitudes” of preparation for hearing God:
– Be still. Find a spot without distractions and clear your mind of other thoughts.
– Be open to the ways you might “hear” his voice. His answers will come to different people in different ways. For some, it may be an image. For others, it could be an immediate thought or a single word or a feeling or a Scripture.
– Be patient. Wait to hear His answers.
Then she gave us the next: Simply ask God a question, such as “How do you want to make Your presence known to me today? Then write down whatever comes to mind: a word, thought, a picture. (NOTE: Make sure you have something to write with and a pad or paper, when you go into prayer for if GOD reveals something to you, you’ll definitely want to write it down…remember, that old devil, our adversary, he wants to steal, kill and destroy John 10:10 … so I know from experience, there were times GOD spoke to me and I had nothing to write it down with and it took some time to “recall” it as GOD says write the vision and make it plain but the enemy is trying to prevent that from happening).
Lord, help me hear Your unique voice in my life…Carol Kuykendall…AMEN.
Love, Joy and Peace,
Debra J. Ellis
Reminder AND/OR for those of you just joining us: The purpose of Fast Wednesdays is to draw near to God on this specific day of the week fasting and praying in whatever manner the Holy Spirit is leading you as sisters (and some brothers) in Christ…some have fasted from social media, coffee, or observed a traditional fast with no eating from sunrise to sunset with only liquids for the day, no deserts, etc. I know many of us, for various reasons, participate every week but in different manners. This has still been beneficial and the blog continues to grow!
The key ingredient is that we are doing this together as sisters, of all ages, in the Lord, both chronologically and spiritually in accordance to: A God-Filled Life Titus 2:3-5 “Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior.” Note: Please share Fast Wednesdays with your friends and/or send me names to add to the distribution list. For now, I will post in three places: email (email@example.com), Facebook (Debra Fuller Ellis) and blog in Word Press: https://fastwednesdays.wordpress.com
