Fast Wednesdays: Week of August 26, 2015 – “Keep the Faith”

Greetings Beloved!

FYI, soon we will have messages by some guest bloggers so that we will return to a more normal “weekly” schedule as I continue to learn, grow, fail, and excel in my new job … in the meantime, let’s unite in prayer today especially for our students, teachers, and administrators throughout the country and world who are preparing for or have started a new school year. Lets also pray for those who need miracles … I am a witness #Won’tHeDoIt! How many of you like me, have discovered that no matter what “good place you find yourself in life” you will always have doubts, pains, problems, struggles, stumbling blocks, trials, tribulation, etc.? Indeed…

Well this week I want to encourage you to “keep the faith.” What does that mean you ask:

1) Encourage yourself – don’t focus on the issue, focus on how good God is and be grateful still because, yes, there is definitely someone out there far worse off than you, and, if you can think of anyone struggling, as a matter of fact, call them, I am certain, when you use sensitivity, they will and you will be happier for the call.
2) Make Faith your #1 priority – “faith hears the inaudible, sees the invisible, believes the improbable and receives the impossible”
3) a. When God speaks, faith hears, b. When God orders, faith obeys and c. When God challenges, faith responds.
4) Faith – alleviates the stress factors in our lives. It releases God to move in our lives. It allows the impossible to occur.
5) God + U = a distinct majority

(Items 2 – 5 comes from a Sermon series my Pastor is leading called “Powered by Faith.” So far he’s covered: Power to Hear, Power to See, and Power to Understand) … if you wish to watch the podcast:

Scripture(s):

1 Peter 5:7 KJV –Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Romans 10:17 KJV – 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
II Cor 6:1 NLT – As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.
Mark 10:27 NLT – Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.”
Psalm 19:14 KJV – Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and Redeemer.*

*The Power of Words is to never be underestimated … for death and life are in the power of the tongue… work on a heart transformation if you are finding you are using negative words especially towards others for that one word just might make or break someone’s day.

Song:

Troy Sneed: Lay It Down

Prayer:
Dear Father your word declares that you have promised us a hopeful future we can have faith in … Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” May we now rest in your faithfulness to us for we know you hold the answers for our future. Amen.

Love, Joy and Peace,
Debra J. Ellis

Reminder AND/OR for those of you just joining us: The purpose of Fast Wednesdays is to draw near to God on this specific day of the week fasting and praying in whatever manner the Holy Spirit is leading you as sisters (and some brothers) in Christ…some have fasted from social media, coffee, or observed a traditional fast with no eating from sunrise to sunset with only liquids for the day, no deserts, etc. I know many of us, for various reasons, participate every week but in different manners. This has still been beneficial and the blog continues to grow!

The key ingredient is that we are doing this together as sisters, of all ages, in the Lord, both chronologically and spiritually in accordance to: A God-Filled Life Titus 2:3-5 “Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior.”  Note: Please share Fast Wednesdays with your friends and/or send me names to add to the distribution list. For now, I will post in three places: email (djf52055@gmail.com), Facebook (Debra Fuller Ellis) and blog in Word Press: https://fastwednesdays.wordpress.com/
