Fast Wednesdays: Week of February 18, 2015 (Ash Wednesday) – “Going Deeper…”

Greetings Beloved!

CNN … Starting on Ash Wednesday, more than 1 billion Christians around the world will enter the season of Lent, a time of solemn spiritual preparation for Easter, the culmination of the church’s calendar.

In that spirit, join me and many of you, who have made a decision to go deeper in our faith this year by rededicating and adding more discipline to our lives through prayer, fasting, meditating, studying the word, etc.
Deep below the ocean’s surface is a mysterious world that takes up 95% of Earth’s living space. It could hide 20 Washington Monuments stacked on top of each other. But the deep sea remains largely unexplored. Dive down 650 feet (one monument or 200 meters), and you notice that light starts fading rapidly. Dive deeper: the temperature drops and pressure rises. At 13,000 feet (20 monuments or 4,000 meters), the temperature hovers around freezing, and there’s no sunlight at all. Yet there is life — an astounding variety of creatures that will boggle your mind. You can’t dive to the deep ocean on your own, of course. But scientists now have a variety of sophisticated technologies to explore this vast frontier. What they’re finding will amaze you.

Just like this snippet above, we humans have amazing gifts, wisdom, understandings and so much untapped spirituality inside of us … so go on this journey with me of deep discovery within using the elements of prayer, fasting, studying the word of GOD and other spiritual tools during this 2015 season of lent to see what GOD is calling you to do and better equip yourself for your purpose in life.

1 Peter 1:6-7 PH “This means tremendous joy to you, I know, even though you are temporarily harassed by all kinds of trials and temptations. This is no accident—it happens to prove your faith, which is infinitely more valuable than gold. . .”

Psalm 1 King James Version (KJV)1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Dear Lord, thanks for being the solid rock, our strong foundation, our chief cornerstone. Be with us as we desire to go deeper in our spiritual walk and get closer and nearer to you. We need your help. We cannot do anything without you … just breathing, we do it and we know we have to do it but how, what, when where, why, well, the answers to all those questions come from you. So, we ask for revelation knowledge and receive power to triumphant over the challenges that we will face during this season. Amen.
Love, Joy and Peace,

Debra J. Ellis

Reminder AND/OR for those of you just joining us: The purpose of Fast Wednesdays is to draw near to God on this specific day of the week fasting and praying in whatever manner the Holy Spirit is leading you as sisters (and some brothers) in Christ…some have fasted from social media, coffee, or observed a traditional fast with no eating from sunrise to sunset with only liquids for the day, no deserts, etc. I know many of us, for various reasons, participate every week but in different manners. This has still been beneficial and the blog continues to grow!

The key ingredient is that we are doing this together as sisters, of all ages, in the Lord, both chronologically and spiritually in accordance to: A God-Filled Life Titus 2:3-5 “Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior.”  Note: Please share Fast Wednesdays with your friends and/or send me names to add to the distribution list. For now, I will post in three places: email (, Facebook (Debra Fuller Ellis) and blog in Word Press:
