The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away. ~Anonymous
Question: How do we receive this type of love?
Answer: Well, its starts by being in the ultimate relationship–one with God. That’s when he becomes the skilled, master surgeon, and begins performing the heart transplants we all critically need.
Jeremiah 17:9-10 (MSG) 9-10 “The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out. But I, God, search the heart and examine the mind. I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things. I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be.”
A new commandment I give unto you: that ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
Have kindly affection one for another with brotherly love, in honor preferring one another;
Owe no man anything, but to love one another, for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
with all lowliness and meekness, with long suffering, forbearing one another in love,
And may the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another and toward all men, even as we do toward you…
This was written by songwriters Michael Masser and Linda Creed. Linda Creed was recovering from breast cancer when they wrote the song in 1977. Originally recorded by George Benson, his version went to #24 in the US. In 1985, the song was revived by Whitney Houston, and on May 17, 1986, it went to #1 for the first of three weeks.
Creed’s cancer claimed her life on April 10, 1986. She was later inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on the strength of this song and the many hits she co-wrote for The Spinners, The Stylistics, and other acts on the Philadelphia International label. Phil Hurtt, who also wrote for the label, told us, “There are thousands of ways to say I Love You, and the difficulty is trying to find a nuance, a new way to say what’s been said thousands of times, and Linda Creed is someone who was able to do that.”
Masser and Creed wrote this for the 1977 film biography of Mohammed Ali, The Greatest, and the song first appeared on the film’s soundtrack recorded by George Benson. Ali played himself in the movie, essentially recreating his defining moments intercut with clips of his actual fights. Ali was the Heavyweight champ at the time of the film’s release. Houston’s version was originally the B side of “You Give Good Love” but the amount of airplay it received persuaded Arista to release it as a single.
Father, we come before you with a critical need, its a matter of the heart. We pray that you would transplant our cold, mean, selfish, evil, perverted hearts and give us new hearts with a renewed mind. Please let us accept and not reject these new hearts. Hearts that pray for each other, intercede for others, and by our mutual faith “believe in miracles” for one another. Hearts that are persistent, knocking and pressing in, through this faith, prayer and obedience, removing all that stands in our way of hearing, obeying and accomplishing your purpose for us. AMEN.
Love, Joy and Peace,

Reminder AND/OR for those of you just joining us: The purpose of Fast Wednesdays is to draw near to God on this specific day of the week fasting and praying in whatever manner the Holy Spirit is leading you as sisters (and some brothers) in Christ…some have fasted from social media, coffee, or observed a traditional fast with no eating from sunrise to sunset with only liquids for the day, no deserts, etc. I know many of us, for various reasons, participate every week but in different manners. This has still been beneficial and the blog continues to grow!
The key ingredient is that we are doing this together as sisters, of all ages, in the Lord, both chronologically and spiritually in accordance to: A God-Filled Life Titus 2:3-5 “Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior.” Note: Please share Fast Wednesdays with your friends and/or send me names to add to the distribution list. For now, I will post in three places: email (email@example.com), Facebook (Debra Fuller Ellis) and blog in Word Press: https://fastwednesdays.wordpress.com/
