Fast Wednesdays: Week of June 18, 2014 – “Light Your Spiritual Fire — Part 3 — Its not Over Until God Says So (Meditation, Reflection, Repentance)”

Greetings Beloved!

As we think on Fast Wednesday this week, I will be short as I am on my way to one of my annual conferences working with MBEs (Minority Business Enterprises). I’m going to miss many special people who I have met over the years at this conference but will not be in attendance this year…you know who you are, GOD loves you and so do I!

I have been enjoying the topic of Lighting Your Spiritual Fire and many of you have shared some thought provoking information. So, let’s just meditate on this as this topic comes to a conclusion for now. Here’s some scripture and words of encouragement for the week. Its based on the following items (someone actually put them all nicely in a little gift box and I felt it was a very thoughtful touch).

TOOTHPICK – to remind you to pick out the good qualities in others. Matthew 7:1

RUBBER BAND – to remind you to be flexible. Things might not always go the way you want, but they will work out. Romans 8:28

BAND AID – to remind you to heal hurt feelings, yours or someone else’s. Colossians 3:12-14

PENCIL – to remind you to list your blessings everyday. Ephesians 1:3

ERASER – to remind you that everyone makes mistakes, and its okay. Genesis 50:15-21

CHEWING GUM – to remind you to stick with it, and you can accomplish anything. Philippians 4:13

MINT – to remind you that you are worth a mint. John 3:16-17

CANDY KISS – to remind you that everyone needs a kiss or a hug everyday. 1st John 4:7

TEA BAG – to remind you to relax daily and go over your list of blessings. 1 Thessalonians 5:18
The list again — 9 Ways To Light The Fire Of The Lord In Your Spirit

#1 Feed The Flames With The Word Of God

#2 Stoke The Furnace With Prayer

#3 Worship The Lord With Extravagance.

#4 Allow The Holy Spirit To Move

#5 Do A Spring Cleaning Of Your Heart

#6 Bring Your Flame Closer To Other Flames

#7 Start Making Your Fire Useful

#8 Find A Personal Firebrand

#9 Spread The Flame

Lastly I want you to REMEMBER, its not over! God has more for you to do…a righteous man (or woman) falls seven times but he (she) picks themselves up, dust themselves off and get back on his or her grind…thanks for the song sweet pea!

The Lord’s Prayer (traditional)

Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,

The power, and the glory,

For ever and ever.

Love, Joy and Peace,

Debra J. Ellis

Reminder AND/OR for those of you just joining us: The purpose of Fast Wednesdays is to draw near to God on this specific day of the week fasting and praying in whatever manner the Holy Spirit is leading you as sisters (and some brothers) in Christ…some have fasted from social media, coffee, or observed a traditional fast with no eating from sunrise to sunset with only liquids for the day, no deserts, etc. I know many of us, for various reasons, participate every week but in different manners. This has still been beneficial and the blog continues to grow!

The key ingredient is that we are doing this together as sisters, of all ages, in the Lord, both chronologically and spiritually in accordance to: A God-Filled Life Titus 2:3-5 “Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior.”  Note: Please share Fast Wednesdays with your friends and/or send me names to add to the distribution list. For now, I will post in three places: email (, Facebook (Debra Fuller Ellis) and blog in Word Press:
