Fast Wednesdays, February 5, 2014 – BIG (Believe in God and Dream Big)!

Greetings Beloved!

I discussed “Goal Setting” recently and mentioned I would share something with you. Well, last year I set a goal to walk a mile a day, so that would be, of course, 365 miles. Well, I missed my goal. I heard that statistically only 16% of people who set goals achieve them recently. When I look at the strengths of my outcome: I finally DID set a goal and I walked 293.1 miles (80% of my Goal)…see attachment!

So, I’m looking last year in the rear view mirror, resetting my goal and even giving myself a “stretch” goal of 486 miles for 2014! How you like me now, we know who’s mad?! (That would be a mile a day, plus an additional 1/3 for the year)…so back on track and focused.

My motto: I am going to dream bigger and dream more.

I am EXPECTING BIG and GREAT things for ALL in 2014!

SCRIPTURES:

Here’s some more scriptures to read at your leisure on dreams:
Psalm 14:5-6

Night is coming for them, and nightmares, for God takes the side of victims. Do you think you can mess with the dreams of the poor? You can’t, for God makes their dreams come true.
Job 33:15-18

“In a dream, for instance, a vision at night, when men and women are deep in sleep, fast asleep in their beds— God opens their ears and impresses them with warnings To turn them back from something bad they’re planning, from some reckless choice, And keep them from an early grave, from the river of no return.

Judges 7:15

When Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, he went to his knees before God in prayer. Then he went back to the Israelite camp and said, “Get up and get going! God has just given us the Midianite army!”

FINANCES:

Some of us thought its the beginning of tax season, however, IRS Identity Theft Season Begins Now

Each year thieves try to steal billions in Federal Withholdings by stealing your identity. As the IRS focuses more attention on this quickly growing problem, now is the time of year to be extra vigilant.

Early tax filing season is the worst time.

Your federal tax account at the IRS has plenty of money in it from all the taxes withheld from your paycheck during the course of the year. Until you file your tax return, the IRS does not know whether you need to pay more in or they need to refund you the excess amounts withheld.
Thieves know this too, and will try to file a fraudulent tax return before you have time to submit your own. By doing this, they can steal some of your withholdings and be long gone by the time you file your own tax return. So what can you do?

1. File early. The sooner you file your tax return, the less likely a thief will beat you to your refund.
2. Check your credit reports. See if there is any suspicious activity on your accounts and on your credit reports.
3. Protect your ID. Be suspicious; never give out your Social Security Number, do not leave your credit card unattended, never give ID information to someone who called you, use the password function on your phone, be aware of strange mail, and shred important documents. Often your best defense to IRS ID theft is to use best practices to protect your information.

The IRS is becoming a better spotter:

If the IRS suspects something is wrong with your filed tax return they will send you a notice. If this happens to you:

Respond Immediately. Get the direct contact information from the IRS web site and let them know that you have a possible identity theft problem.
File an Identity Theft Affidavit (IRS form 14039). This will record your problem with the IRS and they will take extra steps to ensure your account activity is coming from you and not the ID thief.
File a police report.
Contact the credit bureaus.
Having your identity stolen is one thing. Having your tax withholding stolen and then having to unravel this problem within the IRS is a major hassle. Try to stay vigilant and know that there are steps to help protect your tax records. Is there good news in all this? If the IRS pays out a refund to someone stealing your identity, they are on the hook for this loss, not you.

PRAYER:
Hear our prayer, oh Lord. Incline your ear to us, cleanse us, mold us, shape us, into the treasured vessels you designed long ago. Based on your DIVINE DESIGN, let us deploy those gifts, talents, abilities, treasures and skills you have given to each of us. Let us not be afraid to be used by you. Should we be afraid, give us the boldness and the bravery to do what you seek of us, afraid, knowing that you will fill the gap and get the glory. Thanks for our legacies, our present and our future, for you are always there, you will never leave us nor forsake us. In your name, AMEN.

Reminder AND/OR for those of you just joining us: The purpose of Fast Wednesdays is to draw near to God on this specific day of the week fasting and praying in whatever manner the Holy Spirit is leading you as sisters (and some brothers) in Christ…some have fasted from social media, coffee, or observed a traditional fast with no eating from sunrise to sunset with only liquids for the day, no deserts, etc. I know many of us, for various reasons, participate every week but in different manners. This has still been beneficial and the blog continues to grow!

The key ingredient is that we are doing this together as sisters, of all ages, in the Lord, both chronologically and spiritually in accordance to: A God-Filled Life Titus 2:3-5 “Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior.”  Note: Please share Fast Wednesdays with your friends and/or send me names to add to the distribution list. For now, I will post in three places: email (djf52055@gmail.com), Facebook (Debra Fuller Ellis) and blog in Word Press:  https://fastwednesdays.wordpress.com/
