Fast Wednesdays, September 25, 2013 – Draw Near to God — Part II

Greetings Beloved!

Question for Today:

Do you spend your time BUILDING UP others or TEARING DOWN? (One takes a lot more maturity, guess which one)

This past Sunday, my pastor, during the sermon, gave an example. His two oldest grand daughters like to build log cabin homes and such which get really elaborate…his next two grand daughters are two years old. Guess what they like to do? Yes, you have it tear down! So, the lesson, is as we mature in all the areas of our life we should be about building up versus tearing down.

Therefore, as we Draw Near to God today, meditate on some words that build up versus tear down:

1 Corinthians 2:10-13 (MSG)10-13 The Spirit, not content to flit around on the surface, dives into the depths of God, and brings out what God planned all along. Who ever knows what you’re thinking and planning except you yourself? The same with God—except that he not only knows what he’s thinking, but he lets us in on it. God offers a full report on the gifts of life and salvation that he is giving us. We don’t have to rely on the world’s guesses and opinions. We didn’t learn this by reading books or going to school; we learned it from God, who taught us person-to-person through Jesus, and we’re passing it on to you in the same firsthand, personal way.

Dear Father in heaven, I pray that everyone reading this find and fulfill their purpose and are not distracted by chaos, confusion and busyness. May the scripture reveal to them your perfect plan for their lives. I pray that they will have no DEVIATIONS from your plan, no DISCREPANCIES and always being going in the right DIRECTION. Amen.

Love, Joy and Peace,

Debra J. Ellis

Reminder AND/OR for those of you just joining us: The purpose of Fast Wednesdays is to draw near to God on this specific day of the week fasting and praying in whatever manner the Holy Spirit is leading you as sisters (and some brothers) in Christ…some have fasted from social media, coffee, or observed a traditional fast with no eating from sunrise to sunset with only liquids for the day, no deserts, etc. I know many of us, for various reasons, participate every week but in different manners. This has still been beneficial and the blog continues to grow!

The key ingredient is that we are doing this together as sisters, of all ages, in the Lord, both chronologically and spiritually in accordance to: A God-Filled Life Titus 2:3-5 “Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior.”  Note: Please share Fast Wednesdays with your friends and/or send me names to add to the distribution list. For now, I will post in three places: email (, Facebook (Debra Fuller Ellis) and blog in Word Press:
