I recognize that we are at many different levels with those of you on my distribution list…there’s even several millionaires when you consider your total net worth/assets! But, Fast Wednesdays caters to the young women amongst us who may be single, divorced or married, with children, without, all types of scenarios. So, honestly, many of you are not quite yet at your full earning potential or have it all together when it comes to your finances. Therefore, what I’m saying today definitely is geared towards y’all…however, there’s a time or two when I don’t have it all together either so I’m included.
TAX Season finishes officially April 17…if you have not filed yet, MAKE SURE YOU GET AN extension…you’re only hurting yourself more when you neglect to file annually. Whew. Also, if you’re getting a refund, please pay yourself and put a little something something into an account that bears interest…I know that’s quite a statement in today’s environment where you have to put a minimum balance not to incur monthly charges and they’re only paying .01% interest. SO, give it to somebody you know you can trust to hold it for you and they’re strict and will not give it to you when you’re being frivolous, if you have no other options. Its amazing how RICH you feel when you have INCOME/ASSETS you can tap into but don’t touch…this also teaches us SELF-CONTROL, one of our fruits of the spirit…
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
P.S. My tax professional is Linda Archie, owner, Professional Tax Services <email@example.com> … I’m sure she can either help you or get you where you need to go…
Following is this past Monday’s Motivation from Team GirlTrek! I’m so excited because I have heard some more of you have decided to join the 5 day, 30 minute, 10 week challenge and we’re in week two. (You could always start, anytime, on your own, you know). Anyway I just finished my Wednesday walk so adrenaline has me pumped…and I enjoyed the song of the week…lol…
Week two is upon us and we want you to get moving with our song of the week from Morris Day & The Time – The walk! “Attention everybody! I’m gonna show you a brand new dance. It’s called “The walk, the walk”
Backside swinging and hands on our hips. Sing louder! “just let your body talk ’til you’re deep in a trance. You don’t need no partner, you can walk all alone. Whenever you feel the groove just let your body move.”
Yup! We’re taking it way back. “Everybody walk your body, everybody walk.”
What is living an Abundant Life NOT!
Last week Shylethia shared with us the scripture John 10:10 Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. The definition: Abundantly, Perissos (per-is-soss); Strong’s #4053: Superabundance, excessive, overflowing, surplus, over and above, more than enough, profuse, extraordinary, above the ordinary, more than sufficient. When you think of the word abundance, our thoughts may turn toward having lots of physical things or possessions. However, having lots of earthly possession is not enough to living an abundant life. An abundant life is a life lived unto God and lived to please God. Our abundance, that is the Christians, is not based on how many possessions or riches we have but on our obedience to the Word of God and how our lives glorify God.
I know we were aligned with Shylethia because they just so happened on releasing the final autopsy results on Whitney Houston who was mentioned in last week’s topic…I can resend if you need it. I for one, did not need to know many of the details such as her teeth implants, etc. … what a combative world we live in today where nothing is private and off limits!
Today while we FAST let us focus on What an Abundant Life is NOT! I discovered the following reading from my Made to Crave study and it has convicted me to do better with not just my eating habits but also my spending, saving, recycling, etc. habits. The author talked about “wallowing in abundance.”
Definition of wallow : to roll oneself about in a lazy, relaxed, or ungainly manner <hogs wallowing in the mud> 2 : to billow forth : surge 3 : to devote oneself entirely; especially : to take unrestrained pleasure : delight 4 a : to become abundantly supplied : luxuriate <a family that wallows in money> b : to indulge oneself immoderately <wallowing in self-pity> 5
: to become or remain helpless <allowed them to wallow in their ignorance>
— wal·low·er noun
Examples of WALLOW
- elephants wallowing in the river
- Buffalo wallow in mud to keep away flies.
I thought about ALL the areas of my life where I am guilty of wallowing in abundance, where I have “unrestrained pleasure.” I repented and now I’m working on doing a better job and stop wallowing! Areas such as all the food I emotionally eat or I throw out because we cooked too much or it got rotten before I could get to it, or the coupons I let expire because I won’t organize them or the plants I brought that time but did not make or have time to plant them so they died, etc. ..my list goes on and on. I can up with the following acrostic because I am convinced this wallowing is SIN:
Wallowing in Abundance:
S – Self-pity emotions followed by
I – Increased insatiable appetite results in
N – Negative and guilty feelings which are not of GOD!
As Shylethia said last week “today, while FASTING let us seek more of the eternal blessings of God instead of the temporary things of this world. APPLYING GOD’S WORD is our key to living an abundant life. Today, we can hope in God and look forward to the day of His coming back again.
AS WE CELEBRATED THE RESURRECTION OF OUR SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST LAST WEEK, LET US PONDER ON HOW HE BECAME POOR SO THAT WE MIGHT BECOME RICH…IN RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM. THIS IS GOOD NEWS AND LET US SHARE IT WITH SOMEONE ELSE WHO MAY NOT HAVE THIS ABUNDANT LIFE.
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.
2CORINTHIANS 8:2 – “of abundance of joy”
That in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality.
ROMANS 5:17 – “of abundance of grace”
For by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
LUKE 6:45 – “abundance” of the heart
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
PHILLIPIANS 1:9 – “walking as to please God”
And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment.
Listen to this video “I NEED YOUR SPIRIT:”
Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, we simply say THANK YOU and we love you and continue to wash us with your blood to make us whole…AMEN!

Reminder & for those of you just joining us either by contacting me or I personally added you: The purpose of Fast Wednesdays is to draw near to God on this specific day of the week fasting and praying in whatever manner the Holy Spirit is leading you as sisters in Christ…some have fasted from social media, coffee, or observed a traditional fast with no eating from sunrise to sunset with only liquids for the day, no deserts, etc. I know many of us for various reasons participate every week but in different manners. This has still been beneficial and the sisterhood continues to grow!
The key ingredient is that we are doing this together as sisters, of all ages, in the Lord both chronologically and spiritually in accordance to: Titus 2 — A God-Filled Life 3-5Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior.
Note: Please share Fast Wednesdays with your friends and/or send me names to add to the distribution list. For now, I will post in three places: email (firstname.lastname@example.org), Facebook (Debra Fuller Ellis) and blog https://fastwednesdays.wordpress.com
